Program overview
We open with our genealogy — our line back to ʻŌpūnui and Manaiakalani — so the authority to share what follows is named, not assumed. From there, we move through the valley.
ʻĀina momona means productive cultural landscape. You will spend time in loʻi, with kalo, with the kūpuna's relationship to this place — not as a performance, but as the work it actually is.
Moʻolelo are tied to specific places here. We will share what is shareable, in context. Some moʻolelo and oli are family-held; we will tell you when, and why.
We close with kuleana. Every guest leaves with a stated commitment back. That is the curriculum's final lesson and the price of admission to what we just shared.
Highlights
- Lineage opening (moʻokūʻauhau back to ʻŌpūnui and Manaiakalani)
- Loʻi work and ʻāina momona practice
- Place-specific moʻolelo, with kūpuna approval
- Closing kuleana — every guest names a reciprocity action
What to bring
- Closed-toe shoes that can get wet
- Water, sun protection, light rain layer
- Small snack
- Open posture — this is participatory, not spectator
We respect the ʻāina
If valley conditions, weather, or family practice require it, we reschedule or refund. We do not run programs against the ʻāina's needs.

FAQs
Is this suitable for children and elders?
Yes. Group is capped at 8 so we can match the day's pace to the group. Tell us about mobility needs in your booking; we will adjust the route.
What happens if it rains?
We operate rain or shine when conditions are safe. Heavy weather or unsafe valley conditions: we reschedule or refund.
Where do we meet?
Meeting location is sent in your confirmation email. We do not publish it to keep groups intentional.
Why is the price what it is?
$189 reflects what it actually costs to pay our practitioners well, keep groups small, and pay land stewardship and licensing fees back to ʻohana and our nonprofit. We do not compete on price.
